Brendan Woollard
Brendan is a director, designer, and editor who has worked in diverse parts of the motion picture industry. He recently directed, along with Larry Raskin, and designed the 13-episode, TVtropolis TV show, "Make or Break TV". It was his second series as a director, following on the heels of "True Pulp Murder" for Global. He just completed co-directing and editing with director Brian Johnson on a series of short collaborative pieces with BC artists commissioned by Knowledge.
Brendan is accomplished in most aspects of post-production, working regularly as a compositor, animator, effects supervisor, motion graphics designer, and as an online and offline editor. He made the opening title sequence and other design elements for the successful documentary series “Girl Racers” and "Very Bad Men". He was an editor on the feature doc "Breaking Ranks" which aired on Global Currents and is currently editing the feature doc "Eco-Pirate: The Paul Watson Story".
Brendan is the post wizard behind many high-profile and award-winning music videos for the artists such as K-os, Nelly Furtado, Celine Dion, Swollen Members, The Stars, The Dears, Default, Ambulance, Matt Mays, and Great Big Sea. He has also directed videos for Tangiers and Sunspot Jonze/Moka Only.
He has edited several short dramatic films including “Blue Skies” (aka”Heart”) which won Best Short Prize at the Toronto International Film Festival; the KickStart films “The Harp” and "Glimpse"; and “Cabron”, his student film, which won UBC editing awards and started him off as an editor. He also directed the short “Jack and Jill” which won the Canadian Society of Cinematographers award.
Brendan has also edited and done effects and design for commercials for clients like BMW mini, Compaq, Chili’s Restaurant, Blue Cross, Tourism BC, and Telus. And he has done award-winning PSAs for AIDS Vancouver, PETA/SPCA, and BC Women’s Hospital.
